MDP Level 1 - Phase 1
On the following pages you will find highlights of Level 1 of the MDP to acquaint you with the steps involved. If you enter the program, you will receive detailed instructions about all three levels.
Level 1: Assessment & Training
(6 – 24 months) - view the milestones
Welcome to the first level of the MDP. We are excited about the opportunity this time will give you for personal reflection and growth as you prayerfully consider your calling to the nations.
In this level, you will encounter three types of development milestones:
- Study. We value the wisdom of those who’ve gone before us, as well as establishing personal patterns of lifelong learning, so we’ve included readings throughout the program to challenge, stretch, and enrich your preparation.
- Assessment. Each of these instruments is designed to deepen your understanding of the Bible, refine your evangelism skills, and discover your own gifting in the Spirit.
- Experience. While books and readings are valuable ways to discern God’s calling, we also believe that practical experiences in ministry are essential. This level contains three experiences designed to help you along the journey.
On the following pages, you will find descriptions and details of each development milestone. The forms you will need to complete and submit will be found in the Manual Appendix and on our website, www.bic-church.org/wm. Click on the MDP link.
By the end of Level 1 you will be asked to clarify whether you believe God is calling you to be a goer (a cross-cultural missionary) or a sender (one who actively promotes and supports missions from here in North America.)
