Board for World Missions elects new chair
GRANTHAM, Pa. (July 1, 2010)—Brethren in Christ Board for World Missions (BWM) announces the election of a new chair following their June 2010 bi-annual meeting in Grantham, Pennsylvania. Chris Sharp, Brethren in Christ World Missions (BICWM) executive director is pleased to welcome Mirta Colloca to a two-year term as chair of BWM.
"As Gord Gilmore has completed a full number of available terms - and has served so faithfully and well, we are blessed by Mirta's acceptance of this role in the days ahead, says Chris. “Mirta brings a perspective of the global church, an understanding of cross-cultural contextualization and wonderful leadership gifts.”
Mirta and her husband, Roberto Colloca, serve as the co-pastors of Vida Abundante BIC in Miami, Florida and Mirta’s speaking ministry takes her throughout Latin America.
The impetus for Mirta's connection with Board for World Missions and a view of global ministry came when a quote from John Stott struck her heart. We must be global Christians with a global vision because our God is a global God. "Missions is born within the local church, but even though it is born there, it is destined to go beyond the four walls of the church to reach the world." says Mirta. She also thanks all those who are faithfully praying and supporting the work of BWM and Brethren in Christ World Missions. "I look forward to seeing and experiencing, along with all of you, the many wonderful things that the Lord has in store for us!" says Mirta.
