BICWM welcomes mobilization coordinator
GRANTHAM, Pa. (December 17, 2010)—Chris Sharp, executive director of Brethren in Christ World Missions (BICWM), is pleased to welcome Vicky Landis to the BICWM staff as mobilization coordinator.
Vicky has served in various administrative positions at Armstrong World Industries for the past 20 years, most recently as marketing project coordinator for the residential ceilings division. Ministry leadership has included women's ministry leader at Pequea BIC, teaching children's church and serving as youth advisor at The Table BIC as well as co-leading the Atlantic Conference Global Impact Team.
Growing up on a farm in southern Lancaster County, Vicky now lives in Smoketown with her husband of 18 years, Jared.
"I've been a 'BIC-er' my entire life. I grew up at Pequea BIC Church, then Jared and I were part of the leadership team from Pequea BIC that started a church plant, The Table Community Church. We've been attending The Table ever since. I took my first mission trip to Nicaragua 3 years ago through the Atlantic Conference Global Impact Team. I've been privileged to be able to return to Nicaragua with a team for the last 3 consecutive years--the last one in June 2010 with a team from The Table."
About her ministry passions, Vicky shares, "I really desire to help people think outside of their ‘own world’ and have a heart for youth and young adults who are just beginning to make their place in the world. We all have a ‘story’ that makes us who we are, and I'm always amazed how God uses that. I enjoy sharing that with others."
"I'm really excited to begin building relationships with our churches in North America to create awareness about missions. I love to meet new people.”
Beyond work and ministry, Vicky loves to spend time with Jared, their nieces and nephews, family and friends. She also likes to run, bike and swim and has taken part in several half marathons and triathlons over the years.
