The first Brethren in Christ congregation was established in South Africa in the township of Soshanguve near the city of Pretoria. This growing congregation, led by a South African pastor, Hamilton Madlabane, has members from several tribal groups who evangelize through tent campaigns, and minister in prisons and a hospital.
