Mozambique was first inhabited by native farmers and ironworkers but was later controlled by Arab and Portuguese traders.  Formerly a tourist destination for the Portuguese and South Africans with 1500 miles of beaches adjacent to the beautiful Indian Ocean, today it is remembered for one of the longest and bloodiest civil wars in Africa. It is estimated that over 12% of the population suffers from HIV/AIDS.

Construction of First BIC Church Building in Maputo
Project ID: 1375

Maputo is a city of 2.5 million people. Since this is the capital city of Mozambique, the church considers it to be strategic in its church planting programme. At this point, they would like to begin by building a fairly large church building which would become the base for training and outreach to establish other congregations throughout the city and other parts of the southern province.
