In Honduras, the population is nearly 60 percent rural, with most farmers working small farms. As in many Latin American countries, there is a migration to the cities as people look for jobs and a better standard of living. The capital city, Tegucigalpa, now has a population of nearly one million, one fifth of the country's total population.
