VISION OF THE SUSQUEHANNA CONFERENCE

The overarching Vision of the Brethren in Christ is to be an expanding network of ALIVE, DYNAMIC and FRUITFUL congregations. The Susquehanna Conference fully endorses this vision as each Team joins hands to:

The Vision of the Susquehanna Conference and its teams is shaded by several Core Values of our bishop as he serves the pastor and congregations of the conference.

    1. Prayer is the backbone of all we do.  (Phil 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”)
    1. We are one church.  Therefore we need each other – person to person; church to church; conference to conference.  (Eph 4:1-6 “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.  Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.  Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”)
    1. The call to pastors is unique and special, worthy of respect and honor.  (Heb 13:17 “Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account.  Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.”)
    1. Individual and corporate passion for the Lord is essential in all we do.  (Jeremiah 29:11-14a “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity…”)
    1. Listening to the Holy Spirit must mark our lives and ministry.  (John 16:13 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.  He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”)
    1. Every part of scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another – showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.  Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.  (II Tim. 3:16,17 MSG)
