Youth Coordinator Couple, Navajo BIC Mission (Bloomfield, N.M.) Posted: 9/7/2011

The Navajo Brethren in Christ Mission was established in 1947 for the purpose of reaching the Navajo People (Dinéh) with the love of Jesus. Since that time, the Mission has experienced many changes but all have led to a deeper relationship with the Dinéh of our community and greater opportunities for ministry.

There is a vibrant and ever-expanding youth culture in the area surrounding the mission. To reach it for Christ and advance the Kingdom by making inroads into the native community, we have the vision and need for a Youth Coordinator Couple. The ideal candidate couple would be self-starters and team-players. An essential element would be for them to be gifted with cross-cultural sensitivity along with the willingness and determination to learn the heritage and traditions to be able to do ministry and present the Gospel in the context of Navajo culture.

Do you have a desire to invest your time and energy in building relationships that make a difference for eternity? Does the prospect of influencing a generation of young people for Christ get you excited? Is the burden of missions heavy on your heart? Perhaps the Creator of the universe is calling you to this specific ministry, which will be geared toward sixth through twelfth grade Native Americans.

This is a position with great flexibility. Housing arrangements could be made at the mission, but the candidate couple would be required to raise their own support.

Duane Bristow serves as the executive director of the Mission. His life-partner, Diane, handles all administrative details. Duane or Diane would be pleased to dialog with anyone interested in more information about the ministry and this urgent opportunity for a Youth Coordinator Couple. Home Living Coordinators, Navajo BIC Mission (Bloomfield, N.M.) Posted: 9/6/2011

The Overcomers Program began at Navajo BIC Mission in Bloomfield, New Mexico, in 1997. It's an alcohol and drug rehabilitation program directed primarily, but not exclusively, to Navajo men who have succumbed to the ravages of addiction. The program is for a duration of six month, consisting of a three-month intensive residential session followed by three months of aftercare followup. There are two sessions per year: one in the Spring and one in the Autumn. The program combines a clinical approach with a Scriptural base and has a success rate upwards of 70 percent.

The Overcomers Program requires two Home Living Coordinator couples for each session. It is an exciting, rewarding, and intense people-to-people ministry. It's really all about making friends and building relationships with men who have mostly known only brokenness and dysfunction in their lives. The Home Living Coordinators are an essential element of the program. It is an opportunity to do the most elemental aspect of our faith by reaching out to others who are hurting and seeking a helping hand.

We are actively recruiting prospects for future sessions and would like to develop a list of potential recruits for the years ahead. The need is great—some may even say urgent or desperate. Do you feel God calling you to a larger Kingdom-building role? Does investing in the lives of others and watching God change lives motivate and thrill you? If so, prayerfully consider a three-month term of service to build relationships that will echo in eternity.

The 2012 dates:
Spring
February 20–May 18
Autumn
August 20–November 16

The 2013 dates:

Autumn
