Leadership searches progressing on pace

Following the formal notice by John Brubaker, executive director of BICWM, and Craig Sider, bishop in the Atlantic Conference, that they would not be available for a new term of office, selection committees were formed to secure their successors. The Bishop’s Selection Committee is composed of four members from the Atlantic Conference, along with the Moderator and General Secretary. Similarly, the Executive Director Selection Committee is composed of four members from the Board for World Missions, along with the Moderator and General Secretary. With several meetings behind them, both search committees report that they are making good progress on the charge handed to them, and with a high degree of unity. 

Both searches are following a similar format, including a review of the selection process, information gathering from key constituencies, synthesis of responses to questionnaires about the positions, listing and prioritizing potential candidates, and considering application and reference material. The goal of the committees is to recommend a nominee for both positions to the General Conference Board by February 2008, and as they begin interviewing potential candidates, the search teams are grateful for prayer.
