Bienvenido a Miami!

This coming summer, BIC from across North America will head for Florida and the 119 th General Conference. This break from the usual pattern of Grantham, California, or Ontario as sites for the biennial meeting will model the denomination’s commitment to enriched community as conference attendees come face-to-face with one of the fast-growing edges of the BIC Church – our Hispanic congregations.

The planning team has selected “Starting and Sustaining Healthy Congregations” as the theme for the conference, picking up on the Impact 2010 goal of 325 congregations. The tag line, “Built to Last,” and references to the words from Matthew 16:18 “. . . and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell will not overcome it,” strengthen the focus on congregational health.

General Conference 2006 runs from June 30 through July 3, and will be held at the Hilton Miami Airport. No business is scheduled for Sunday, July 2, providing opportunity for attendees to worship with the 38 BIC congregations in the Miami area.

Registration packages for the conference include lodging (4 nights), three breakfasts, two buffet luncheons, and three dinners and are based on room occupancy as follows:

Quad occupancy: $258 (US) per person
Triple occupancy: $279 (US) per person
Double occupancy: $321 (US) per person
Single occupancy: $487 (US) per person

Children age 12 and under stay for free with parents. Children’s meal packages are $155 (USD) per child. In addition, there is a program registration fee of $45 for youth and adults.

The conference planning team has secured a discounted airfare (5%) through American Airlines and also on rental cars through Avis.

Registration materials will be mailed to churches and online registration should be available beginning in January. Questions about the upcoming General Conference can be directed to General Secretary Darrell Winger at dwinger@messiah.edu or by calling (717) 697-2634.
