BIC Church in India growing in the face of persecution
In an email message following an April 18 meeting of church planters and pastors from the Chhattisgarh, Erasama, and Dhenkanal areas of India, Bijoy Roul, BICWM Regional Administrator for Southeast Asia, reports that “the Lord has been helping and working in these places in spite of terrible persecution.” He points to four specific praises:
- The good work in the Patholgaon and Ambikapur areas in Chhattisgarh State, where it is expected that 15 to 25 new churches will have been started by the end of 2008 through the efforts of six church planters.
- The amazing things the Lord is doing in the Erasama area among Hindu high caste people. Although the new converts live in constant danger, they are standing strong in the Lord.
- Persistence by church planters in seven totally Hindu villages in the Dhenkanal area. The church planters have been attacked many times, but the Lord has protected their lives.
The 30 people from the Erasama and Dhenkanal areas who were baptized on May 9. Pray for these new believers and the work of BIC churches in India.
