A message to congregational leaders about the Ministry Enrichment Retreat
If you’ve heard your pastor or pastoral team express concern that the registration fee and travel costs associated with this summer’s Ministry Enrichment Retreat are too much for him, her, or them to spend, we hope you’ll let him, her, or them know that they are worth it—and more—to your congregation. The personality type of individuals most often drawn to Christian ministry makes it hard for them to value self-care. It's up to congregational leaders to remind pastoral staff, and others in your church, that pastoral ministry is demanding and stressful work. Pastors and spouses need a break every once in a while.
The Ministry Enrichment Retreat (MER), scheduled for July 9-12 in Pittsburgh, Pa., provides such an opportunity. However, with the registration deadline of May 15 fast approaching, there’s not a lot of time left for your pastor or pastoral team to register. So please, speak up today. And then look forward to the fresh ideas that will flow back to your church as a result of the MER experience. The theme for the retreat, “Fresh ideas for a changing church,” will introduce attendees to effective ways to translate the timeless truths of Christianity into the language and culture of our day.
