Impact of Urbana for BIC
Generations of Christian workers —including a significant number of
BIC missionaries and pastors—began their
journeys of service with a trip to Urbana,
the world-renowned biennial student mission
conference. The more than 50 young
adults from BIC churches who made the trek to
Urbana in late December have returned home changed and charged up for God. As Jonathan Bert from Carlisle, PA, shared, “I felt the presence of God like never before. God taught me what His world needs, what His people need, and what I need.”
BIC World Missions reports that in the weeks following the Urbana conference, the office has received four applications to the Missionary Development Program and inquiries from another three individuals. One young adult has applied to the STEP program. Three people have signed up for a mission trip to Montreal, six to visit the BIC program in London, and six have joined a local Ignite group. There are also commitments to greater faithfulness in studying the scripture and devoting time to prayer.
Once again, Urbana has solidified what future ministry leaders in our churches already sensed—that the Lord is leading them toward lives of service.
