August 2006
With this issue of Momentum, you’ll notice that Don McNiven’s signature has replaced Darrell Winger’s at the bottom of the page. The General Secretary “baton” officially traded hands on August 1. Behind the scenes, Liviu Pavel, a 2006 Messiah College graduate and newcomer to the congregational relations team, has picked up responsibility for the technical side of Momentum from Sarah Mackin. After two years of excellent service to the BIC Church, she has moved on to a pre-graduate school fellowship program.
One thing has not changed however, and that is the purpose of Momentum—to provide pastors and other church leaders with timely information about church-wide developments, activities, and resources. Please let us know how we are doing toward that goal.

When it comes to vital signs, the greatest of these is loving God
The first on the list of vital signs of healthy BIC congregations is also the first on Jesus’ list of what it means to be a healthy Christian, and that is our whole-heart, whole-soul, whole-mind, and whole-strength love of God. So how can we know if our churches are growing in their love? What are the markers of love-healthy congregations?
