One-day seminars focus on marriage

Building on the success of the 2005 seminar, “Preaching Peace in a World at War,” Equipping for Ministry is offering another one-day seminar that addresses a critical need in our culture. This year’s seminar is designed to address one of our society’s most profound problems: fostering healthy marriage relationships. As Alan Robinson, a member of the seminar faculty along with Debbie Bentch and Terry Brensinger (by video), points out, “Serving God in this generation requires that we give our time, attention, and energy to developing healthy marriages—which means biblical marriages.”

The seminar provides an overview of biblical principles for marriage and explains the societal changes that have contributed to the breakdown of marriage in North America. Participants leave the seminar with tools for encouraging healthy marriages, assisting those preparing for marriage, and counseling couples with troubled marriages.

Comments from the first session of the seminar, conducted on March 23, include:

  • Very, very practical.
  • Fast-paced, it kept me engaged, and in the afternoon, awake!
  • I appreciated the combination of solid Biblical overview and the sharing of personal stories.
  • This seminar increased my desire to be compassionate, accepting, and forgiving of people experiencing marital struggles.
  • Good insights to help in crisis situations and for marriages within our church.

The remaining dates and locations for the seminar are as follows:

  • April 1, 2006 - Ashland BIC, 2750 Mifflin Ave., Ashland, OH
