In local congregations and Regional Conferences, in North America and in countries around the world, the Brethren in Christ Church is focused on a single outcome: Lives transformed by God’s great gift of salvation.
It’s our goal that we all will be passionate about inviting people to follow Jesus, grow in the faith, serve joyfully, and go out with the Gospel message. This is God’s “good, pleasing, and perfect will.”
Through your church’s participation in Cooperative Ministries, you have a part in providing resources, services, and structures that assist congregations in realizing their full potential as outward-focused, Spirit-empowered, vital communities of believers. Specifically, your CM contributions help support our shared commitments to:
This is God’s call to individuals, to local congregations, and to the whole of the Brethren in Christ Church. The task before all of us together, with God, is to create an expanding mosaic of churches, all seeing lives transformed by Jesus Christ.
The work will not be easy, and lasting change almost always comes with a cost. Fortunately, God has already supplied us with everything we need to get the job done. As we Brethren in Christ love boldly, give generously, and serve joyfully, God will accomplish great things through us.
Brethren in Christ churches are encouraged to allocate at least 10–12 percent of their regular offerings to Cooperative Ministries. This is our agreed-upon way to fund the work we do as a community of believers beyond the local church. For the majority of BIC congregations, Cooperative Ministries is an appreciated opportunity to be part of ministry goals with a national and international reach.
Through Cooperative Ministries, we all have a part in providing resources to people we will never meet, reaching into places we will never go, and preaching the Gospel in far-flung corners of the world.
Now more than ever,
as we step out in faith with Transformation 2020, a bold, 10-year ministry initiative for the North American Brethren in Christ Church, it is crucial that our shared giving match our vision. God is calling BIC churches to great things in the decade ahead, and that includes the opportunity for great generosity.
Local church giving through Cooperative Ministries has dipped slightly in recent years, following a period of modest growth. If we are serious about transformation, we must reverse the trend line for Cooperative Ministries. Your increased financial support will allow the Brethren in Christ Church to move forward with confidence, and as we do, lives will be transformed.
This is God’s “good, pleasing, and perfect will.”
