Preaching Peace Seminar
Equipping for Ministry [EfM] offers an Impact Seminar entitled"Preaching Peace in a World at War".
This seminar, focused on one of the BIC Core Values, is designed to encourage pastors to recognize the need to preach on peace and to be better equipped to do so.
Seminar objectives:
- to help pastors reflect on the importance of preaching peace
- to aid in understanding the centrality of peace to the gospel and to our Brethren in Christ heritage
- to consider some of the challenges pastors face when preaching about peacemaking
- to offer ideas for addressing these challenges
Many practical suggestions were offered during the seminar, including:
- texts to use for preaching peace
- do's and don'ts when preaching on peace
- introduction to a wide range of resources to aid in preaching peace creatively and persuasively
Lead by Eric Seibert, Assistant Professor of Old Testament, Messiah College, this seminar will include two sermons by peace-preaching pastors of growing congregations: Woody Dalton, Harrisburg BIC Church, Harrisburg, PA and Bruxy Cavey, The Meeting House, Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Each sermon will be followed by a time of discussion with participants invited to consider the sermon's strengths and weaknesses as well as its application to their particular congregation.
The cost of this one-day seminar is $50. That includes two breaks, lunch and the materials which will be sent to you upon receipt of your registration.
Registration is required for this seminar. Because there is some preparatory reading the registration should be received no later than one week prior to the seminar
