Impact Seminars Offered in 2012
Healing: Finding Wholeness in Christ
Have you ever wondered why one person gets healed through divine intervention and yet, good people do not? What role does faith play in it all? In what area of human existence do we need healing? What role does Satan play in our need for healing? Is deliverance a type of healing?
These, and other great questions will be explored in this seminar which aims to present what we believe is a Bible-centered response. You will have an opportunity to have input, view some video clips from BIC congregations that have ministries addressing this topic and learn from God’s Word and each other.
The previous seminars listed below are available upon request at any mutually agreed upon site and date:
The Last Days: End of Hope or a Hopeful End
The biblical message regarding the end is: "Come, Lord Jesus!" (Revelation 22: 20). This is a message of hope for the saints, who pray that God's kingdom comes and His will is done on earth as it is in heaven. Some have diverted this hope into prediction of the time when Jesus will come again. This seminar will focus on our witness by helping us to understand the kingdom of God, interpret biblical passages related to the end, and formulate a plan of action in light of God’s future.
Women as Pastors: The Brethren in Christ Perspective
There are many topics and issues that stimulate discussion and (sometimes) disagreement in churches today. One of those topics is the role of women in ministry, especially in positions of authority such as pastor or senior pastor. Like most other denominations, the Brethren in Christ Church has individuals who hold different views on this important topic. This seminar will examine the Biblical materials that and will present the Brethren in Christ understanding and its implications for individuals and congregations.
Surprised by Freedom: The Life You Always Wanted But Could Never Afford
We do live in a material world and today gas prices, credit card debts, and global economic uncertainty cause people all kinds of stress and strain. How should the church respond? Is there cure for “affluenza?” This 2009 Impact Seminar Surprised by Freedom seeks to address this question in light of the BIC core value of living “uncluttered lives, which fee us to love boldly, give generously, and serve joyfully.” Let’s join together to discuss, learn, and work through our approaches to the “material world.”
Left, Right, and Jesus
North Americans today live in politically charged times! In the US, we are in the thick of an election year. Canadians are also facing a potential federal election. Increasingly, members of the Brethren in Christ are engaging in some way in government, politics or political issues. This seminar is designed to help us think through our engagement in the political process and how we might approach various issues that are currently relevant.
Windows into Holiness: Becoming More Like Jesus
One of the church’s greatest challenges is to disciple believers so that they continually grow to become more like Jesus. This seminar is designed to help pastors and ministry leaders understand the biblical call to holy living, and to disciple believers toward wholeness and holiness.
