Impact E-Seminars Offered in 2012
"For Us and Our Salvation": Creedal Christianity and the BIC
What is the relationship between the theological and liturgical emphases of the Brethren in Christ Church and those of churches that emphasize continuity with historic Christian creeds? This e-seminar explores the history of Christianity regarding the development of creedal documents and the resistance to creedal formulae that the BIC inherited from the Radical Reformers of the 16th century.
Dates: January 2 – February 10, 2012

Women as Pastors: The Brethren in Christ Perspective
There are many topics and issues that stimulate discussion and (sometimes) disagreement in churches today. One of those topics is the role of women in ministry, especially in positions of authority such as pastor or senior pastor. Like most other denominations, the Brethren in Christ Church has individuals who hold different views on this important topic. Based on a DVD of the seminar conducted by Alan Robinson and Jim Spurrier, this e-seminar will examine the Biblical materials and will present the Brethren in Christ understanding and its implications for individuals and congregations.
Dates: January 2 – February 10, 2012
Syllabus Writer and Facilitator: Kristine N. Frey
The Security of the Believer
After reading both theologians and biblical texts to explore various ways Christians have thought about the sovereignty of God and the free will of humans, students will articulate their own position on the security of the believer. Then they will address practical issues facing Christians by developing responses to specific questions and a sermon outline on a related theme.
Dates: January 2 – February 10, 2012
Syllabus Writer and Facilitator: John Arthur Brubaker, M.Div.
