Healing Prayer Ministries - October 5-6, 2007

Chambersburg BIC, Chambersburg, PA

We live in a society where so many people are walking in emotional emptiness because they have experienced relational pain and have been deeply wounded by people they loved and trusted. These deep wounds can cripple a person’s closest relationships for a lifetime if they are not adequately addressed. Many people believe they must simply learn to cope with the pain. “This is the way it is so I must learn to live with it.” This concept of “putting it in the past,” “letting bygones be bygones,” and “getting over it” is not what Biblical Christianity is about and certainly not what a godly prayer life leads one to experience. The Holy Spirit desires that we be honest with Him and walk in all of His provisions for our lives, including His mercy and forgiveness flowing through us for offenses and offenders.

Three Important Principles in Healing Prayer Ministries:

  • The unfair exchange: We bring our pain and wounds by faith to the Lord Jesus at the cross and give them to Him, putting them to death with Him. In exchange He gives us His mercy, grace, forgiveness, and life where pain and wounds have stood.
  • The cross of Jesus is the only place where sins and the power of sin can be put to death: “Our Lord Jesus Christ died for all sins; the ones we have done and the ones that were done to us.”
  • Our forgiveness of others, who have sinned against us, is every bit as important as our own forgiveness of sin and the ability to forgive ourselves.

 The Seminar Objectives:

  • To address Biblical truth regarding the healing grace of God
  • To equip and train people to help one another deal with pain, wounds, offenses from having been hurt in the past
  • To seek to develop in our understanding the detrimental affect emotional pain and heartache can have on our physical and spiritual health
  • To encourage counselors to help others to deal with things that prevent them from walking in spiritual victory
  • To enable counselors to understand the fact that reactions to pain; anger, unforgiveness, resentment, and bitterness are just as sinful and crippling as the sin committed against the seeker
  • To encourage the listening process, enabling people to listen for things that are in the hearts of seekers, which are presently crippling their ability to walk in freedom in Christ
  • To encourage same gender counseling and prayer times to take place at which sins we have committed and sins committed against us are owned, repented of, and crucified with Christ Jesus and His life welcomed into the life of the seeker in new and deeper ways

The Seminar Addresses:

  • The Biblical picture of God as Healer
  • The healing power of God available at the cross
  • The difference between deliverance and healing
  • The need for healing our damaged emotions
  • The role of our will and desires in our healing
  • The role of forgiveness for ourselves and others in our healing
  • The fact that our reactions to pain can be as sinful as the original wound
