Welcome to the
SUSQUEHANNA CONFERENCE!

Hi!  My name is Ken Letner and I serve as Bishop of the Susquehanna Conference of the Brethren in Christ Church.  I have a question for you, “What are you fighting for?”  The question was focused for me as I viewed a recent film “Cinderella Man”.  The film is about James Braddock, a fighter in the late 1920s.  The stock market crash wiped him out and a busted right hand caused so dismal a performance in a fight he lost his license to box.  The film is a poignant portrayal of his comeback and the regaining his family.  Following one of his fights of Braddock’s comeback a reporter asks him at a press conference, “What’s the difference?  Why does he fight with such a passion?”  Braddock’s answer…. “I know what I’m fighting for!”

Ephesians 6:12 alludes to the fight we are in as followers of Jesus, as kingdom builders interested in connecting people with the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.  Indeed, people have to be kept as the focus of all we do.  Sometimes when we think too much about what we’re doing to reach people we lose our focus, like Braddock, and we forget what we’re fighting for.  The enemy revels in steering our focus so that we think we are accomplishing and doing what’s right only to be diverted from our target.  The enemy is fighting for people.  What are you fighting for?  People are why Christ died.  Do they matter to you as they do to Him?

Come and be a part of the team of 40 churches, 75 pastoral leaders and scores of lay persons who are working together in fighting for people for whom Christ died.
