Why is this effort taking place now?
The Atlantic Conference has grown significantly over the past 5 years. in 1995 we were 35 congregations. Today we are 50 plus congregations. We are in the midst of a large effort to plant churches. Over the next 5 years we believe God is calling us to plant upwards of 25 new congregations. This requires an annual giving plan that allows us to:
- plant churches,
- nurture our current congregations,
- encourages impact within our communities and
- develop the infrastructure to not simply maintain 75 congregations, but to then continue to move forward.
Why not just fund all this through Cooperative Ministries?
Cooperative Ministries is a great mechanism to further the ministry of the Brethren in Christ Church. It allows us as a conference to partner with churches all over the United States and Canada in missions, church planting, and leadership development. We believe it is possible to fund Cooperative Ministries as congregations and together support what God is doing in the Atlantic Conference through giving beyond Cooperative Ministries. For our vision to succeed resources beyond Cooperative Ministries will be required.
How will my contributions be spent?
Contributions to the Atlantic Conference will be spent accomplishing 4 things:
- Starting Churches
- Healthy Churches
- Resourcing congregations to increase their impact within their communities
- Leadership & Pastoral Development
We will accomplish these goals through coaching, church board development, vision casting, the hiring of staff in strategic areas, and t raining. Beyond this a significant portion of our budget will be committed to the planting of churches and helping churches daughter congregations.
How can we give?
Contributions to the Atlantic Conference can be given in the form of property such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc. or as cash. If investing cash gifts please forward to the conference office at:
