These are great days of opportunity for churches in the Atlantic Conference. Recently, several of our seasoned pastors declared that they want to do more than simply lead a Christian organization. Rather, they are committing to courageously leading their congregations in Kingdom advancement. Now that’s vision!
What would it look like for the Atlantic Conference to be alive in mission? The following is a list of the desired marks of the conference in 2008 – marks which indicate a Conference alive in mission:
- Strategically planting new churches – both through parenting and ventures into new cities
- Every congregation healthy and transformational
- Every congregation and pastor adopting a spirit of interdependency
- Every congregation strategically moving toward parenting – individually or in partnership
- Pastors growing in heart formation and skill development
- Every congregation partnering with the larger BIC through giving to Cooperative Ministries
- A legion of men and women from within the Conference considering vocational ministry
- Every congregation engaged in outreach ministries into their community
- The pastoral ream increasingly reflecting the growing ethnic mix within our Conference boundaries
- The Atlantic Conference made up of 75 healthy mission-oriented congregations
Each person is invited to be a part of making these characterstics a reality in the life of our conference by praying, active involvement and giving.
