The purpose and duties of the General Conference Board

The General Conference Board will serve as the policy-making board between meetings of the General Conference and within the will of the General Conference.

The duties of the General Conference Board will be:

A. To study, coordinate, and promote the total program of the church as expressed through the Leadership Council.

B. To keep under review the overall functioning of the church program and to bring such recommendations to General Conference from time to time as will provide for the increased effectiveness of the life of the church.

C. To carry responsibility for the regular business of the church between meetings of General Conference. In the event of an emergency situation arising within the denomination, the General Conference Board may take such action as deemed necessary and present it for review at the next General Conference.

D. To receive from each regional conference an annual report of the activities of the churches in that area, including statistical information regarding each congregation, and to make proper release of that information.

E. To provide supervision until the convening of the next General Conference for any regional conference area in which a vacancy in the bishop's office may occur.

F. To review recommendations for the financial compensation of administrators serving under the General Conference Board for incorporation in the budget.

G. To receive from the Leadership Council the recommended budget projections for general church operations and to review, approve, and submit the same to General Conference for approval.

H. To give supervision or oversight to institutions and agencies not directly accountable to a regional conference or to another General Conference board on behalf of General Conference. When an agency's program, promotion, constituency, and/or funding begin to cross any regional conference boundary line, the General Conference Board may initiate dialogue with that agency.

I. To act to approve the appointment of the Director of the Historical Library and Archives and to receive through the General Secretary the annual report of the Director
